Students and military historians

The museum holds a wealth of information for analysis and research. Further information about carrying out your own research and booking an appointment to visit the archive can be found on the research FAQs page.

Group visits

The museum resources and the items on display can support many areas of learning. Teachers and group organisers are invited to contact the museum to plan a visit and discuss individual requirements.

The museum plans to appoint an Education Officer as soon as funding permits. Meanwhile we are working with an education software developer to create a resource about the First World War for schools in Northumberland. In 2014 the Imperial War Museum intends to provide participating museums with an educational package as part of national commemoration of the Centenary of the First World War.

Our planned development will focus on improving the educational facilities that we can offer to the wider community.
