By order/ of Assembly, Pro-/vidence, the Fifth/ day of September, AD.1776'. Three signatures below 'Jos Clarke', (?), in black; 'Jas Congdon' in red. To reverse 'One dollar' at top, 'One dollar/Providence/printed by John Carter 1776' surrounded by garland pattern and red Percy half moon crest under crown below. This currency note is repputed to be engraved by Paul Revere.
