Round tortoiseshell snuff box presented to
Lieutenant Colonel Marley (commanding) by Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to
mark the gallant conduct of the Regiment at the Battle of Wilhelmstahl on
24th June 1762. With painted lid depicting spaniel type dog and swan with
wings outspread on red background, green leaves and flowers. The lid
surround in gold(?) brass(?). Base of box painted with pastoral scenes on
red background. Contained in outer case of leather with fine criss cross
pattern. |
